  • All-purpose flour (almond flour or another gluten-free flour)
  • Baking powder
  • Baking soda
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Ground ginger
  • Nutmeg
  • Ground cloves
  • Salt
  • Eggs
  • White sugar
  • Milk (or you can use buttermilk or almond milk too!)
  • Molasses
  • Butter melted

How to make Gingerbread Waffles:

  1. Preheat the Belgian waffle maker.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
  3. In a separate medium bowl, beat the egg yolks and egg whites together with the sugar until thick and foamy. stir in the milk and molasses. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until well combined. slow fold in the melted butter.
  4. Spray hot waffle iron with nonstick cooking spray. Follow the manufacturer’s directions for your waffle maker to measure the batter and cook the waffles until they are golden brown and then place them on a place or cooling rack.
  5. Top the waffles with powdered sugar, whipped cream, and fresh fruit or your favorite syrup .

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¾ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • pinch ground cloves
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • cup white sugar
  • ¾ cup milk
  • ½ cup molasses
  • ¼ butter melted

Instructions

  • PREHEAT WAFFLE IRON.

  • IN A LARGE BOWL, COMBINE FLOUR, BAKING POWDER, BAKING SODA, CINNAMON, GINGER, NUTMEG, CLOVES, AND SALT.

  • IN A SEPARATE BOWL, BEAT THE EGGS AND SUGAR TOGETHER UNTIL THICK AND FOAMY. STIR IN THE MILK AND MOLASSES. ADD LIQUID MIXTURE TO THE DRY INGREDIENTS AND STIR UNTIL WELL-COMBINED. SLOW FOLD IN THE MELTED BUTTER.

  • SPRAY HOT WAFFLE IRON WITH NONSTICK COOKING SPRAY. FOLLOW THE MANUFACTURER'S DIRECTIONS FOR YOUR WAFFLE MAKER TO MEASURE BATTER AND COOK WAFFLES UNTIL FINISHED.

  • TOP WAFFLES WITH POWDERED SUGAR, WHIPPED CREAM, AND FRESH FRUIT OR YOUR FAVORITE SYRUP.

    Made these Christmas Day and they didn't disappoint! I doubled the batch and it made 6 Belgian waffles. I wish I could post a picture. The kids loved them and we will definitely be making them again. I also used Braer Rabbit full flavor molasses. So good!
